Bontan gives us a reason to “Shake It” in tech house tune

You’ll be back before long“. These undulating words are the epithet of confidence, heard in the dripping sensuality of Bontan‘s newest release, “Shake It”. Making his solo debut on DFTD with noticeable sonic growth, the winner of ‘Best Newcomer’ in the DJ Awards is unabashed in showcasing his vivid tech house integrities, elevating his sound to a whole other genre.

Classically driven with a vigorous bassline and hushed vocals, “Shake It” illuminates the side of tech-house we often see: infectious, laden with gritty passion and confidently formulaic. Yet, Bontan manages to traverse the frontier with laser-focused shakers, reflecting another perspective unto the aforementioned genre—one that amalgamates its familiar elements into a refreshing conclusion that doesn’t seem forced. Frenetic yet melodic, “Shake It” is a fiery representation of the producer’s drive, mesmerizing synths only further boosting its undeniable groove. It’s a debut certainly not to be forgotten.

Based in the North West of England, DJ/producer Bontan has grown from humble beginnings as a resident DJ in 2011; honing his craft in the sweaty intimate basements of his hometown of Southport, he ultimately grew his reputation through supporting the likes of Masters At Work, and Dennis Ferrer at Southport Weekender. The DJ turned producer has since gone on to win numerous accolades with his studio exports, leading to performances at Creamfields Festival, Lovebox, Pacha Festival and a residency at the infamous Sankey’s Soap Box Manchester. Bontan has become one of the biggest ever selling acts in Beatport, continues to cater to the underground house scene with a string of releases on the likes of Hot Creations, 20/20 Vision, Elrow Music and Circus Recordings.
