Carrie Baxter has a way with words on “4/4 (Love Affair)”

Waterford native Carrie Baxter is gearing up for the release of her debut EP, Placebo, which is slated for release on June 12th. Its second single “4/4 (Love Affair)” hammers home that the London-based artist is on the precipice of greatness.

Baxter’s lo-fi approach to blending jazz, neo-soul and pop results in a wonderfully down-to-earth sound that is at once polished and friendly, much like Amy Winehouse. Carrie Baxter is a tonic for those bored with the tidal wave of overproduction in the mainstream.

Of the song, Baxter told Dublin’s Hot Press Magazine that she “spent a long time chasing other things and ignoring music, when really all I needed to do was write.” That is the ultimate premise of “4/4 (Love Affair)”: trusting gut instincts.
