Falcon Jane goes to “Heaven” in latest single [VIDEO]

Ontario-based project Falcon Jane, led by singer and songwriter Sara May, have returned with a new single aptly titled “Heaven”. This smooth track is lifted from their forthcoming album, Faith, set for release November 13th. While maintaining some of the same lighthearted summer grooves that characterized Falcon Jane’s previous album titled Feelin’ Freaky, their latest project isn’t afraid to go to darker places as May explores personal tragedy and finds strength in trusting her own thoughts and feelings.

In keeping with the heartfelt and vulnerable single “The Other Moon”, Falcon Jane once again turns to the sky to find inspiration for “Heaven”. The track kicks off with May’s voice taking centre stage, and her rich timbre is supported by delicate synth and guitar riffs as the track builds layers of woozy melodies atop spacious drums. The chorus bursts forth as a blissful ray of sunlight through parting clouds, with May explaining: “I wanted the chorus to feel as if a choir of angels was singing it. But to me, those voices sound very grounded, so I think they are angels on earth, maybe even underground, rather than in heaven.”

Finding solace in the natural world is paramount to May’s songwriting sensibilities as she explores and unpacks the ebb and flow of seemingly ordinary life. The accompanying visuals to “Heaven” take full advantage of what nature has to offer as Sara May starts in a church pew before shots of bright white clouds, crashing waves and moody sunsets fill the screen and capture the blissful essence of the track.
