London duo Lola Wild delivers indie-noir flavoured with pop on “Mirabella”

London-based indie duo Lola Wild share their haunting single “Mirabella,” combining rich noir elements with uplifting tones of pop. On the brooding, hazy production, George Godfrey and Sian Barnett hone in on their love for films and classic soundscapes. The melancholic mood of the track gives way to a heartening chorus as poetic lyricism blends seamlessly with Barnett’s sultry vocals, for a dark slice of indie pop which offers up hints of blues and shoegaze.

Delving into talks of the complications that come with tempestuous emotions, the track cements a versatile indie-noir sonic quality with its retro feel housed in contemporary productions.

With a signature sound combining elements of shoegaze, blues, indie, alternative, pop and everything in between, the duo who describe their music as the amalgamation of “Beach House hanging out with Tarantino,” are building a gorgeous world of its own led by lush productions and powerful vocals.

Speaking of the inspiration behind the track, Lola Wild said, “It’s the awareness that you’re slipping in and out of personalities that can only be described as deleterious to yourself and those who surround you. The result is a love lost, but nevertheless, they’re still clinging on to a memory to reinforce that hope of being happy again.”

The duo who met through shared love for film noir, became Lola Wild earlier this year with their debut single “Sand,” which immediately earned critical acclaim. With this latest offering, they prove they’ve quickly found their niche, flourishing in it by further establishing their unique musical vision.
