Afghan-Dutch artist Ferdous releases woozy new single "Tolerate"

In comparison to the average singer-songwriter, rising artist Ferdous has one of the more unique backstories. He was born just a few weeks after his Afghan parents found asylum in the Netherlands, resulting in a myriad of influences in his upbringing. However, Ferdous found himself isolated and lonely, leading him to use music production as a means of undisturbed experimentation and freedom.

Ferdous' newest offering, "Tolerate" serves as a single off his forthcoming EP, giving us a glimpse of what's to come. The track follows the release of recent single "Starlight" and 2020 EP For My Own Sake

With a minimalist, stripped-back approach, Ferdous floats over the woozy R&B instrumental. This "less is more" technique emphasizes his ethereal voice, allowing his lyrics to shine. Throughout the track, he tackles themes such as mortality and taking life as it comes. "I don't want to waste any time / I could lose it all in the blink of an eye."

Ferdous also provides us with some insight into the track's inspiration and purpose. "Tolerate is about having a desperate longing for living in the moment, and trying to forget that someday you might lose the things that you cherish. It’s about trying to find worth and meaning in this digital wasteland we’ve been living in for the past decade."
