Quavo and Takeoff have shared a new release called “Hotel Lobby”, accompanied by a fresh visual co-directed by Keemotion and Quavo that pays homage to the legendary film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This offering marks their first release branded under the moniker Unc and Phew, a name that references the two artists’ ties as blood relatives. On “Hotel Lobby”, the pair showcasing natural chemistry as they deliver characteristically smooth, charismatic flows atop cinematic, ominous production from Murda Beatz, Keanu Beats, and Fabio Aguillarr.
“Hotel Lobby” opens in a grand fashion with cinematic guitars and subtle, airy keys drifting atop booming 808s and crisp percussion. The production provides a glistening, menacing backdrop for the duo’s confident flows, as they trade verses full of intoxicating lines. The accompanying visual pays homage to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, with Quavo and Takeoff assuming the roles of Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo cruising through the desert before pulling up in style to a Las Vegas hotel. All kinds of psychedelic, tripped-out trap madness follows as they deliver the south’s first proper hip-hop tribute to the late writer Hunter S. Thompson.
The latest from Quavo and Takeoff, “Hotel Lobby” is their first release under the new Unc and Phew moniker. It arrives just shortly after Offset unfollowed the pair on social media, which led to widespread rumors regarding the potential split of the Migos crew.
