Sugi Dakks is a multi-instrumentalist, rapper, singer and poet. Growing up in a small town, the mixed race artist (Japanese and African-American) often felt as if he didn’t belong. Turning to slam poetry and advocacy for solace and purpose, Sugi Dakks soon also began creating music, touching audiences around the globe. His debut album Deeply Rooted featured the single “Not The Only One” where he delve into the complexities of being a mixed race American and the racism that this country deals with on a daily basis.
