Dallas-based Afrobeats and Afrofusion Musician TyStringz found success as a cloud software engineer after bagging a master’s degree in computer science at 22 but underneath it all his first love was music. He then decided to jump full-time into the music industry in 2021 and dropped his debut single “Shalaye(Reloaded),” which garnered quite a lot of buzz.
This gave him the much-needed impetus to go the extra mile and put all his resources into his art, from songwriting to even playing multiple musical instruments, TyStringz is fully hands-on with his art and now he returns with the visual for his new single “Rora.”
“Rora” means take it easy in the Yoruba language but TyStringz repurposes it more in a sexy seductive sexual way but not vulgar in its lyrics but in its expressions and delivery. The production has some Latin elements and the West African percussions and warm textures also add quite a lot of punch to it. The singer employs a somewhat hushed and laidback melodic style as he delivers his lines in a sultry manner while complimenting the voluptuous figure and seductive moves of the woman who caught his eye. The hook on the chorus section is catchy too and makes use of some mantra-like chants that lovers of Afropop would immediately recognize.
The visual taps into the uplifting and bright aesthetics of the song with its fiesta-like set pieces. The colourful costumes, sensual choreography and somewhat psychedelic lighting all add up to create a mesmerizing visual that entrances viewers.
