Newark-raised singer and songwriter Amanda Holley was singing before she could speak and was surrounded by music. Her mom is an accomplished cellist while her songwriter dad worked with legends like Sarah Vaughn. Amanda’s latest release “Ride Or Die” is an anthemic pop and urban crossover jam that showcases her distinct vocal range and engaging songwriting. Over OhKayLaws and Chico Bennett‘s sublime keys, smooth textures and soft drum grooves, Amanda pours adulation on her partner and shows her appreciation by assuring him that she is ready to hold down the fort and ride with him till the wheels fall off. She doesn’t shy away from showing her true feelings with lines like “every time I ride or die, it’s do or die, I do it all for you boy“.
The accompanying visual was directed by Mikey Piliero and Amanda herself who helped bring the song to life with striking cinematic aesthetics, colour coordination and smooth dance routines that capture Amanda’s girl-next-door spirit. Here, we see Amanda riding shotgun with her lead man Tyree Meeks as they venture off-grid into the snow-capped mountains of California, Simi Valley deserts, a DTLA rooftop and cityscape, and finally Malibu highways in her classic Cadillac droptop, leaving her burner phone and dangerous, painful past behind.
