Peter Martin’s latest single, “Out Like a Light,” marks another intriguing addition to his growing discography. Formerly known as the frontman of Zooni, Martin continues to captivate listeners with his introspective approach to songwriting. Following the success of “Not The Same” and “Musical Chairs,” this new release delves deeper into themes of modern British ennui, exploring the complexities of adult life with poignant lyricism.
“Out Like a Light” seamlessly blends melancholic melodies with gentle beats, creating a sonic landscape that resonates with listeners on a profound level. Martin’s introspective exploration of despondency and boredom in adult life is both relatable and thought-provoking. Despite its melancholy undertones, the track offers moments of levity through its witty and introspective lyricism.
“Out Like a Light” showcases an artist with a songwriting guile and nouse, as one to watch in the industry. He explains on his songwriting process that “‘Out Like A Light’ came together very quickly over the Christmas holiday last year but I didn’t have any lyrics for it until I stumbled across them in an old note I wrote a few years ago. Rather unfortunately I can still relate to the themes of despondency and boredom with adult life – making money, missing buses, finding it hard to pay attention to things I once enjoyed. So it’s a bit of a melancholy song but I quite like how most of the lyrics have a comic side to them too. At its core it’s about this abstract feeling of having lost something; a feeling that might just come with the territory of being in your late twenties.” – Peter Martin
