Toronto emcees Dan-e-o and Saukrates unite for this heartfelt and reflective tune “Sober Sunday,” which shows them showing gratitude to the people who supported them from day one.
The production by Charisma of Monolith sets the mood perfectly with a lot of warmth and clarity. The mellow drums, layered sample chops and reflective textures provide the right atmosphere for Dan-e-o’s storytelling skills and Saukrate’s melodic hooks. Here, Dan-e-o give thanks to his immigrant parents for the way they raised and supported him and the many opportunities they gave him allowing him to find success on his terms.
“Sober Sunday” appears as the final cut on Dan-e-o’s latest and greatest album, Vigilante.
Veteran Toronto MC, Dan-e-o debuted in 1996 with his first single “Dear Hip Hop” – now considered a Canadian Hip-Hop classic. The release sparked a more than two-decade career complete with numerous album releases, battle rap victories and a growing actor’s resume.
