7KY and Avonlea deliver celestial pop on “Terrible Things”

7KY teams up with Avonlea on “Terrible Things” for an emotional electro-pop offering.

Avonlea’s celestial vocals are the perfect match for 7KY’s smooth deliveries and atmospheric production, creating a passionate, futuristic pop anthem that is sure to conjure up an array of emotions in anybody who listens. The track tells the story of two free-spirited people having the most celestial one night stand of their lives, portrayed through the melodic duet of the two vocalists.

Reverberated drum machine sounds lead into a soul-crunching bass drop, bringing sultry vibes to the ethereal nature of the verse. The chorus brings optimism and reflection with side-chained synths piercing through the infatuated melodies above.

The song revolves around the line ‘nice to meet you, I’ve heard terrible things’. Elaborating on this, 7KY shares:

“This song sort of started out as a joke between me and my co-writer Bret Martin. We are constantly bouncing lyrics back and forth to each other as we go about our days, and one day he sent me a text that said “Nice to meet you, I’ve heard terrible things.” I love lyrics that make me tilt my head, but at first I didn’t know if I liked it. I spent some time repeating and imagining it in a song, to which in a couple hours I came to the conclusion that it was a genius line.”

The track brings elements of danger, as well as innocence, as the listener becomes deep in the narrative of the two characters that have been created. 7KY’s brand of electronic pop brings a dose of mystery to the table, and it’s captivating.
