Cece Vee deliver action packed visuals for “Shooting Stars” [video]

South Africa-based genre-transcending singer and multi-instrumentalist, Cece Vee recently put out her debut EP Past Midnight in January and followed it up with a single “Self Doubt” which solidified her staying power and showcased her versatility as an artist. Her latest release “Shooting Stars” sees her employing elements from 80s pop with her own unique modern twist. The cinematic production is rich in its brooding synth pad arrangement and punchy 4/4 drum groove, all underpinned by Cece Vee’s unapologetic songwriting and somewhat hushed melodic performance. The record also dives into the dynamics of love and implores listeners to go with the flow because love may come and go but we will always be here so might as well enjoy the journey.

The cinematic music video co-directed by Cece herself alongside video producer, Joshua Cookson, is an action-packed, sci-fi-inspired thrill ride. The video portrays Cece and her intoxicating love interest (portrayed by Meggan Johnstone) in a cat-and-mouse game that seems equally thrilling and deadly. The brief fight choreography is quite brilliant and the use of fast-paced cut scenes also adds a punch to the urgency of the video.

In the relatively short span of her career so far, Cece has been steadily making her mark on both the international and local music scene, with her efforts even earning her first SAMA (South African Music Awards) nomination in the public-voted category for Artist of the Year.
