Daya contemplates on past relationships on “Love You When You’re Gone”

GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum certified pop singer-songwriter Daya drops sensual yet playful single “Love You When You’re Gone,” the first track to be taken from her upcoming EP.

Written during a period of loneliness and nostalgia in Daya’s life, the atmospheric number captures an intricate duality of missing someone no longer in your life yet feeling uncertain about whether you really miss the person or the comfort they brought you.

With this contemplative message juxtaposed against a groovy soundscape, the track conveys equal amounts of heartbreak and empowerment. Letting you experience the relatable fear and pain of being lonely while also pushing us to let go and embrace the opportunity to grow on our own, Daya continues to deliver the lush but powerful pop sound that she first broke through with.

Making her mark in music aged 16 and quickly rising to stardom with hits like “Sit Still, Look Pretty,” and “Don’t Let Me Down,” with The Chainsmokers,  Daya’s upcoming EP is set to mark a turning point in her journey, built introspective themes of dreams and reality, framed by a natural sense of emotion and maturity.
