Ellie Byers drops new ‘Too Far Gone EP’

Emerging independent UK singer/songwriter Ellie Byers recently shared her debut singles “Role Play” and “Back Around”  and now returns with her first EP entitled  Too Far Gone. The 4 track body of work sees the singer diving into the mechanics of blossoming love, heartbreak and the inner strength to find peace and balance in tough times.

The EP starts off with “Role Play,” a sombre reflective tune that dives into turbulence within a relationship and how using different coping mechanisms to patch things up. The backdrop has a brooding aesthetic that rises alongside the shuffled drums while Ellie’s laidback melodic runs take precedence. She muses on her current relationship dynamic and how taking on another persona may bring calm to the storm and finds hope in the long run.

This is followed by “Back Around,” a guitar-laden soulful tune that sees Ellie going back to her old flame and ponders why it’s hard to leave the past behind. She is joined by vocalist Syon who gives his own perspective on the track and both artists deliver a heartfelt duet that listeners can relate to. The EP closes out with “Pulling Away” and “Secrets (Stripped),” two records that capture the height of a relationship from the ups, downs and heartbreaks.

The former is made up of melancholic textures and punchy drums that are underpinned by Ellie’s heartwarming lyrics about distancing herself from a toxic relationship and the latter continues in a similar fashion. The stripped-down acoustic guitar riffs are balanced by Ellie’s commanding vocals and evocative songwriting. She pours her frustrations on wax about a lying lover who keeps toying with her feelings and finally realizes that there is actually no future for both of them thus, all the good times must come to a proverbial end.

Too Far Gone sure hits different marks and tackles delicate heart-related matters from the joyous moments to the dark times and gives listeners a balanced view of it all.
