Grace May looks through a “Rose Coloured” perspective [Video]

Toronto-born, New York-based singer/songwriter Grace May is preparing to put out her debut EP, L.V.R, and now keeps her fans engaged with the first set of visuals for the single “Rose Coloured” from the same EP. The record is a pure R&B ballad rich in melancholic textures and heartfelt lyrics about love gone sour. May fully embodies the pained emotions of the realization that her fears have come through. She weaves through the ethereal production with her angelic vocals as each line echoes her most inner thoughts. The topic is easily relatable but it’s poignant for all.

The visual is shot and directed by Teaunna Gray and styled by Sunday Afternoon and Kaylah Wilson. The director uses a unique retro aesthetic to capture May’s emotions with a focus on her performance via a long close-up shot. There are not many visual effects used here and the pink motif which plays a huge role is magnified as the video progresses. Sometimes less is more and this video is a prime example of that.

”Rose Coloured” is taken from May’s forthcoming debut EP, L.V.R, a project produced entirely by Charles Myers in Brooklyn, New York during the summer of 2019. The EP will be released on 14th May 2021.
