Guilty Simpson , DJ Ragz and Prince Po are the true “Linchpins” [Video]

“Y‘all can’t touch the linchpin, y’all can’t trust your henchmen, send ’em back in toe tags, we do him so bad” are bold and vivid words from the veteran emcee Guilty Simpson, who reminds us of his revered status in his new single “Linchpins.”  The record sees him teaming up with another veteran out of New York, Prince Po (1/2 of Organized Konfusion) over a brooding cinematic instrumental crafted by producers Dub Sonata and Maitre D. Guilty Simpson sets the tone with his authoritative flow, and reinforces his contributions to hip-hop scene in Detroit. Prince Po follows suit with a vivid account of the journey of a man on a mission, cutting through opponents and scaling over obstacles like it’s nothing. Also joining them on the track is multi-instrumentalist Alex Blum who fleshes out a lush string section, while DJ Ragz pads up the hook with a display of turntablism.

The song also comes with a visual that makes use of several clips that illustrate the vivid lyrics by the rappers. From fencing sparring sessions, plastic toy soldiers posturing for combat to abstract paintings, the video sure strays from the usual and delivers something unique.
