Guyville drops breakup anthem "Nothing" [Video]

90's rock-meets-roots duo Guyville just released their upbeat debut single and accompanying visuals for “Nothing.” The duo, composed of singer/songwriters Kat Hamilton and Emily Hulslander, take inspiration from great rock artists such as Liz Phair, and combine their diverse musical backgrounds for a blend of sounds that feels both nostalgic and distinctive to the pair.

In “Nothing,” Guyville reminisces on romantic relationships lost, specifically when you move from a place of heartbreak into indifference, or feeling nothing at all for a past beau. The song was created as a celebration of sorts, offering an upbeat anthem that holds a glass up for anyone who has officially taken the high road and moved on from their ex. Featuring empowering vocals, candid lyricism, Americana-infused guitar and a melody with just the right pop sensibility, the song glows with the bold attitude of a feminist led 90s rock hit. In the visuals, Kat and Emily are seen dancing, laughing and free-spirited, celebrating the mark of their new chapter in life. Shot in a colorful DIY concept, the video adds to the stripped down and honest effect which effortlessly flows alongside the song’s theme.

Los Angeles based Guyville is just getting started on music together. Crafting songs that blend sounds across genres, the talented songwriters “found common ground in their failed relationships, artistic journeys and the women of the 90s.” With much more music to come, we can’t wait to hear what’s next in store for this remarkable duo.

Listen and watch “Nothing” here and say bye bye to your exes for good.
