Veteran rapper Homeboy Sandman returns with the visuals for his song “Omnipresent” taken from his recently released mixtape, I Can’t Sell These. “Omnipresent,” sees the rapper rapping his ass off over the off-kilter electronic soundscape from Venezuluan electronic composer Angel Rada‘s song “Basheeba”. In his usual fashion, Homeboy Sandman gets into the zone with his multi-syllabic rhyme pattern and unpredictable cadence that switches up at every turn. He sure is extremely comfortable with the bright uplifting synths and drumless arrangement as he kicks lines like “Separate fact from fiction/ draw my own map, I don’t like conviction/ switch to slow-mo with the pole position/ flipping both sides of the Mason Dixons” reminding listeners that he only dances to the beat of his own drum.
The video merges videos from different individuals from around the globe, from South Africa, Venezuela, Chile, India, Ukraine, etc who all join Sandman to accentuate the spirit of being omnipresent.
I Can’t Sell These is a 20-track body of work that sees him rapping over some of his favorite songs, film scores, & television intros- anything that he really loves and that moves him to write (but that he can’t sell because he doesn’t have the rights). The mixtape includes repurposed music from Fiona Apple, Pete Rock, Khruangbin, J Dilla, and more. The project is mixed and mastered by Darko The Super and all of the artwork surrounding the mixtape and the single releases are done by artist/ pop-culture aficionado, Gangster Doodles.
Homeboy Sandman will be embarking on a co-headlining tour with Deca this August.
