Ill Knob inspires everyone on “Don’t Get Lazy” [Video]

Long Beach, California-based emcee Ill Knob might not be a household name to everyone but he has been in the game since the mid 1990s. He started off in a group called KGB, known for their 4th Disciple produced single “Bless Ya Life.” On his newest release titled “Don’t Get Lazy,” he teams up with director Chauntra Burton who laces him with a solid video as he details his journey through this game called life.

The track has a mellow, relaxing texture and solid drum groove that rises as the chorus section sets in. Ill Knob sets the tone from the jump and gives the listener a clear view of his artistry and where he has been. He doesn’t try to be preachy or condescending but rather he uses his own life as an anecdote we can all grow on. The first verses focus on him and his music while the second talks directly to the listener and implores them to never give up regardless of the obstacles and challenges. The video is made up of several performance shots of Ill Knob, ranging from his studio to other parts of the city. It’s straightforward to the point.
