Despite her youthful 20 years of age, London-based songwriter Ines Rae writes music with a sleek wisdom. Releasing her new single “Superhero,” the track reflects on her childhood and refusing to grow up.
Soaring into our ears with a dynamic concoction of sounds, Ines Rae’s vocals take centre stage with their distinctive pitch. Transforming lo-fi guitars into a clean-cut slice of nu-pop, the single provides the nostalgic vibes of reliving key moments in our lives.
Reflecting the growth we all go through, “Superhero,” harnesses the notion that we’re still children at heart. “One of my favourite things to do as a child was to dress up as Spiderman and run around the park. I refused to wear anything other than a Spiderman costume for about 5 years of my life,” she explains. “To this day, this memory makes me so happy and I had to write a song about it.”
As one of the first songs Ines Rae ever wrote, this is a shining track built with personality. Her personal lyricism paired with a gloriously bubbly pop backdrop equals radio perfection. “Superhero,” shares the innocence of youth, from the perspective of someone who’s able to capture the importance of embracing our inner child.
