Jarrel the Young’s “Paris In The Fall” teases sophomore EP[Video]

Toronto-based songwriter, multi-platinum producer and artist Jarrel the Young recently unveiled “Paris In The Fall,” the first taste of the follow up to his debut EP, Virtue 1.

The title of the release alone implies a level of transformative nostalgia, with the opening bars of the track further compounding this with shimmering keys that establish an almost dreamlike state. Almost as if that were a palette cleanser, it then promptly switches into a sleek head-bobbing groove, driven by his tenderly melodious vocal and underpinned by lush guitar chords. Textures and vocal harmonies build to perfectly frame his voice in the understated chorus, embellishing the already enchanting atmosphere of slow-burning emotion with aplomb.

With production credits for the likes of Fall Out Boy, Jessie Reyez and David Guetta under his belt, Jarrel has taken the tumultuous circumstances of the year in his stride, using the influx of time inside to consider the many shades of his own blossoming alternative R&B sound. Speaking to the track in an email statement, he shares, “There is a longing to be reunited with moments from the past. Paris in the Fall speaks to living a new life, and still having things and people in your past that you can’t let go and constantly miss. From my personal experience that has been my wife and my child. Travelling the world making music is a fast-paced dream, but nothing makes me happier than speaking to my family. The perfect moment would be flying my family in to join me wherever I’m working.”
