Emerging Chi-town raised singer/songwriter Johari Noelle is presently working on her forthcoming EP but in the meantime, she shares the visuals for her new single “Get Free.” The song is a collaboration with renowned producers David Phelps (Baby Rose, Snoh Allegra) and Biako (Fousheé, Frank Ocean, Massage) who help sculpt the right sound for the singer. The record is an eclectic mix of neo-soul, r&b/jazz, and a sprinkle of pop sensibilities that all merge into a seamless and well-crafted piece. Noelle sure knows the assignment and gives a superb performance as she glides over the warm and groovy backdrop with her soft inviting melodies and silky vocal runs. She implores listeners to find love within because that is where true validation lies.
The visuals play into the theme of the song and are as expressive as they come with a focus on Noelle’s performance and some engaging choreography to boot. Don’t expect any excess visual effects or complex storyboarding to drive the video as the director makes use of simple straightforward long shots, seamless cut scenes, and a sensual color scheme to capture the feeling of true freedom.
Johari Noelle is not green in the entertainment industry and has performed on platforms such as Fox Morning News and Sofar Sounds . She has also acted on shows such as Empire, Proven Innocent, and was a cast member of the BET docu-series Chasing Destiny on which she was mentored by singer Kelly Rowland.
