Model, and singer/songwriter Karen Elson has just unveiled her third album Green. The latest single and title track is accompanied with an equally captivating visual. Elson is known as a style icon working with the likes of innovative designers such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Gucci and more. Her background in fashion and glamorous taste make “Green” a unique artistic expression.

In “Green,” Elson examines how colors influence our emotions and how they can be used to tell a story. With romantic lyrics including “green is the color of the dress
that I wear tonight / blue is the color of the words, the words that I write/ silver and gold I reach for the stars that shine,” she makes full use of colors to further describe a seductive romance full of hope and fervor. Sonically, the sun-dipped folk-meets-pop song impresses with intimate vocals that ebb and flow over breezy shimmering melodies. “Green” is the perfect song to usher in the summer with its luminous acoustic soundscapes that are both warm and colorful. In the accompanying visuals, Elson can be seen wearing a velvet green dress as she sways in a cinematic visual complete with a captivating mix of hues in the background, further highlighting the song’s deep meaning.

According to the press release, Karen Elson re-discovered her love of music during quarantine, finding solace listening to some of her favorite artists like Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. This ’60s folk influence permeates her new album and Green marks a sonic departure for the singer/songwriter. “I needed some sunlight,” she confides. “I wanted a silver lining with an effervescent quality that was a contradiction to the heavy period we were in. The album was written to feel like medicine in the form of a bottle of sunshine.”
