London-based singer-songwriter Dylan James releases the inspirational new single “Boys Yard.” A confessional single about men’s mental health and making your childhood dreams come true, the track is an eruption of indie goodness.
Drawing on the early noughties indie sound with the lush guitar twangs and memorable drum patterns, the single is a blossoming fountain of nostalgia. Connecting with listeners through his incredibly honest and relatable lyrics which draw on personal experiences, “Boys Yard” is set to become a clear-cut anthem.
Singing uplifting lyrics like “you can be a dreamer”, these phrases really do sink in as you hit repeat multiple times. Packing a punch with the almost bluntly spoken words, their direct positivity and rebellious nature of daring to dream, the single crashes into our minds with only words of empowerment.
“‘Boys Yard’ is about the making dreams you have as a kid come true and believing one day you’ll be your hero – it’s a fairytale of hope and excitement by living your fantasy in the safety of your own back yard,” explains James. “I wrote it in lockdown with my boys trying to score in the top corner of a pint-sized goal mouth emulating their football heroes. It’s a song far deeper than football and the innocence of being a child before the darker side of life makes our dreams less of a reality.’
Having already created a cult following, Dylan James is finally sharing his music with the wider world. And for that, we should all be grateful, because Dylan James’ phenomenal songwriting will see him becoming a household name in the near future.
