Maggie Lindemann releases Anti-Holiday new single “Loner”

Maggie Lindemann is making waves with her unfiltered and dark pop style. At 22, her 2020 has been busy with the launch of her own podcast Swixxzaudio, and four new singles bringing in millions of streams. Last week, she returned to drop her new pop/punk single titled “Loner”.

“Loner” explores a topic all too familiar to everyone in 2020: being alone. Lindemann flips the typical sentiment, glorifying the loner status. In her first verse, Lindemann grapples with her emotions and tries to avoid the problems that haunt her. In the chorus, she embraces being alone, and how the solitude allows her to become more comfortable being sad.

The production for “Loner” is centered around a steady guitar melody, consisting of short and fast-paced notes. This fast-paced style is contradicted with a slower and more open guitar melody, which is heard throughout the chorus. The contrast keeps the track interesting and mirrors the internal battle that Lindemann sings of. “Loner” crescendos during the last chorus with a new and distorted guitar riff, which only builds the emotion and angst in Lindemann’s lyrics.

Lindemann’s release of “Loner” was accompanied by a line of ugly Christmas sweaters. The simultaneous drops make “Loner” a perfect anti-holiday anthem, capping off an impressive 2020 run. She shows little sign of slowing down, with the release of her debut EP Paranoia set for January 22nd.
