Middle Part’s “Busy” is the perfect dose of nostalgia [Video]

The best kinds of friendships are the ones where openness is at the forefront. The kind of bond where all judgments are thrown out the window and you can simply listen to one another. That’s exactly what Brooklyn-based Middle Part strives for in his latest single “Busy”.

He emotively sings, “how’s it going my friend, been a while since I left. Heard that song we used to play in your bed. Where we used to lay and do nothing else.” The lyrics further dive into missing the simplicity of the friendship before ego got in the way. Reminiscent of 90s rock legends Pearl Jam and Nirvana, the melancholy track hits hard with sharp synths, driving drums and intense, haunting vocals. Now releasing the visuals rich with retro vibes, the whole video feels as if you are watching a series of home videos. From the grainy aesthetic to the vintage attire, everything about this piece emits a familiar sentimentality.

Andrew Selkōw the brainchild behind Middle Part creates a powerful synth-driven sound. His introspective offerings leave listeners releasing feelings they had buried deep inside. After letting out all of his own inner emotions of sadness, he knew he was ready for a change. Moving to the most remote part of Northern Alaska, it was there he found the serenity he seeked. Through that much-needed change of scenery and love for creating music, he was slowly able to recover. The singer shares in a statement, “Art is important, no matter how you decide to approach it. There’s no age or formula so just create. It’s the most healing form of therapy I’ve ever experienced.”
