New York City collective thebaremax turns in the engaging “Hunk Money” [Video]

One of the more bombastic qualities of hip-hop has always been its’ affinity with groups and collectives. From Wu-Tang, to Odd Future, to Brockhampton, fans of Hip-Hop have long been confirmed to enjoy hearing multiple voices going back and forth on a record. Hailing from various areas of New York City, thebaremax is looking to become as recognizable a name as those previously mentioned, and they prove their chops with their video for their scathing new single, “Hunk Money.”

Produced in-house, “Hunk Money,” is a lyrically dense record that stems from thebaremax’s recently released SMUDGE EP, which was received to positive reviews. Kicking the record off, yeahCALEB comes in and immediately sets the tone by showcasing his stout lyrical ability during the opening verse. Following behind him, Bert Knox plays clean up towards the end and highlights his vast improvement on the mic. In general, this song and video do that for both of them, showcasing how comfortable and charismatic both of them can be both in front of the camera and behind the microphone.

With SMUDGE serving as a follow-up to their brilliant 2019 album Pulp, it’s immediately apparent how much the crew has improved on an already enjoyable sound. Take a peek at the video above and get familiar with yeahCALEB, Bert Knox and the rest of thebaremax family.
