NYC's Alexa Dark drops poignant video for "Fade to Black and Blue"

Over the last year and a half, plenty of people have been learning how to adjust to life after COVID-19, including artists. At the drop of a dime, artists (like everybody else) were unable to do things like perform, see their collaborators or go outside in general, things that both brought monetary value and inspired the very music they make. Hailing from New York City, rising vocalist Alexa Dark is more interested in the latter, which she touches on in depth in her chilling new video for, "Fade to Black and Blue."

Speaking on an eerily familiar topic of finding love amidst an apocalyptic feelings, Alexa's lyrics closely mirror the feeling that many people have had over the last year and some change. Utilizing her impressive abilities as a songwriter, she croons about love and loss while already being under strenuous circumstances. Produced by Matt Chiaravalle, the production does a brilliant job of never standing in Alexa's way, while simultaneously making it's mark. Employing live instrumentation that's buoyed by infectious guitar melodies and industrial drum patterns, Chiaravalle showcases an impressive chemistry with Alexa that should be explored a bit more. Combining these notions with a video that finds Alexa alone on stage with a spotlight on her, providing an even more poignant feeling to the record, "Fade to Black and Blue," stands a record that almost anybody can relate to in a time where familiarity is vital.
