partygirl drops cinematic ballad “Desirable”

NYC alt-rock act partygirl drops slow-build and cinematic track “Desirable,” carried by  a layered soundscape of pianos, organ, guitars and a smooth saxophone solo, with lead singer Pagona Kytzidis’s soaring vocals sweeping over it, gentle at first before building to an intense crescendo.

With intricate instrumentation that fits perfectly into partygirl’s trademark maximalist indie rock style, the track is vulnerable exploration of Kytzidis’s experience in a debilitating romantic relationship.

Speaking of the concept of the track, Kytzidis says,””‘desirable’ expresses the inner dialogue of a person in a romantic relationship processing heartbreak that occurs during the relationship.”

Sonically, rooted in the band’s typical expansive power ballad sensibilities, the lyrics of the cinematic track speaks of heartbreak and conflict led by internal strife. Despite its introspective undertones, “Desirable,” finishes as an uplifting ode to survivors wrapped by Kytzidis’s own journey.

Known for their ability to break down serious, trauma-touched experiences into soaring melodies and imaginative narratives, the Brooklyn act consisting of long-time musical partners Pagona Kytzidisand and Colby Lamson-Gordon alongside Francesca Pastore, Alec Mauro, and Jonathan Ashley, continue to establish their take us on musical rollercoasters filled with emotions and catchy soundscapes.
