One of East London’s biggest future stars RAPTUM shares the video for his most emphatic piece of work to date, the breathtakingly good “Suffercate.” Sounding like a UK hip-hop banger straight from the Top Boy soundtrack, RAPTUM’s lyrical flow is at the level of any of the top artists in the game right now. It’s a track so full of energy and potent lyrical flow, it was even used by New Balance as part of their new campaign featuring Bukayo Saka. RAPTUM is an artist who’s building a reputation in the UK scene, with previous tracks “Polemics” and “Eject that” picking up critical praise. The East London producer has always had a love habit for exceptional visuals on his projects- see his YouTube page for some previous visuals
Filmed near Watney Market in East London, the video could just as easily showcase any other housing estate community in the UK Capital. The camera stays locked on RAPTUM throughout the video but perfectly captures the aesthetic of street communities in London. The production throughout the song is a blend of jazzy chords and perfectly mixed drum patterns, providing a gloriously subtle vehicle for RAPTUM’s lyrical flow. The track is a fantastic example of what’s great about UK rap at the moment, a real diamond in the rough artist with a huge future in the scene. The lyrics talk of authenticity, struggle and staying humble- but it’s the delivery of RAPTUM’s flow that makes him stand out.
“Suffercate is knowing you’re in a league of your own, yet having to be tactical and strategic in how you navigate with this knowledge.” – Quote provided by RAPTUM
