There are many different forms of the American Dream. For some, it’s as simple as a home, family and a white picket fence, while for or others, its equality. For most creatives, the ultimate American–and probably every other country–Dream is to be able to make a living by doing something that you love. For many in this country, working is just something that help keeps the lights on, while the lucky are blessed to have their passions paying the bills. Hailing from Seattle, this is the goal for rising artist Aon the Artist, who expands on this notion in his engaging new single, “Imagine.”
Produced by Luke Whitter, “Imagine,” is a melodically driven, slow tempo record that finds Aon crooning about creating a better environment for himself. Buoyed by poignant lyricism and an infectious vocal tone, Aon does a brilliant job of turning what is normally a somber topic, into a more hopeful, positive take on the subject. Instead of speaking about, “making it” as if it were some sort of faraway dream, he speaks of his incoming blessing as if they were inevitable, something he worked for, making the overall tone of the song a lot more optimistic than the topic may suggest.
