Slaine shares new project, ‘The Things We Can’t Forgive’

After teasing us with the somber track “Chasing Ghosts” and its video, Slaine is back with a brand new body of work to kick off the year. Entitled, The Things We Can’t Forgive, the 10-track body of work is as visceral and emotionally charged as they come. The veteran emcee/actor touches on a myriad of topics ranging from heartbreak, love to betrayal, addiction, and more, over dark hard-hitting beats by fellow Bostonian, The Arcitype. Additional production is provided by Statik Selektah who created the album’s title track.

The record opens up with the Ill Bill chorus-assisted “When the War Ends” which touches on inner turmoil and also comes with its cinematic visual (see below). Tracks like the trap-infused  “Revolver,” and sobering tones of “Legend of the Fall,” sees the rapper confronting himself for all the wild things he did from being addicted and almost losing his mind in the process. These tracks each give his take on taking back his life and beating the demons hovering over him. He holds the entire project on his own with exception of  Snak the ripper who delivers a heartwrenching verse on the gritty “Wrath & Pride.” The project is an honest and somewhat unforgiving look at his life and anyone who has been through loss, heartbreak can relate easily.
To accompany the album’s release, Slaine shares his self-directed video for “When the War Ends (feat. ILL BILL),” which includes photography and editing by Christian Hardy. The cinematic visuals center on a troubled, younger version of Slaine (Justin Thoms), who ultimately confronts his future self with potentially stirring results.
