Somebody’s Child turns over a new leaf with “We Could Start A War” [Premiere]

Somebody’s Child has been busy in the past six months. Coronavirus-related lockdown has not stopped the Dublin-based alt-pop artist from putting the finishing touches on his debut EP. He’s unveiling his latest single from the project, called “We Could Start A War”, today exclusively via EARMILK.

With 20 Something slated for release on August 7th, “We Could Start a War” sees the Dubliner take a sharp turn into a darker avenue of songwriting. Still drenched in robust electric guitar, and the same sunny pop hooks on which Somebody’s Child has built his name, the lyrical content of the track speaks of issues plaguing the whole world.

“This track was written before life changed for everyone,” Cian says, “and has developed a much deeper meaning over the last couple of months.

20-something is the first real taste of who I want to be as an artist and as a songwriter. It’s inspired by music I actually listen to on a regular basis. Everything before this has just been to test the waters, but for the first time since this started it feels like this is what I’m really about.”
