Stalk Ashley pours her emotions on “Deserted”

Stalk Ashley is an emerging Jamaican R&B/dancehall act who first appeared on the scene with her vibrant single “Young” in 2019. She has since continued to demonstrate her characteristic style and no-holds-barred attitude as seen when  Stormzy recruited her  to join him at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge to  cover Beyonce‘s ” Brown Skin Girl.” Ashley also put up a sultry performance on her Bona Carter acoustic session further cementing her as a natural performer. On her latest release titled “Deserted,” Ashley brings to the fore a refreshing slice of unfiltered dancehall inflected R&B with rapper Wstrn lending his trademark gruff vocals.

Ashley does damage over smooth atmospheric texture comprised of sultry vocal-like synths and strings laced over a sensual dancehall riddim. She is unfiltered and unapologetic before switching into her patois twang to drive home the point. While the fiery bursts are pronounced, underneath it all, she displays some hurt stemming from the situation. Joining the fray is rapper Wstrn who tells his own side of the story as well.
