The Slice, Episode 92 [Hip-Hop + R&B]

NY producer maticulous returns to the forefront with the new single, "Everything," and as usual, he brings a couple of friends along for the ride. He taps fellow Brooklynite Skyzoo and Justo the Mc for the verbal assist as he crafts a drum-heavy, cinematic instrumental that keeps the speakers pumping. Both emcees come through with clever wordplay and sharp wit and a handful of gems for listeners to rock with. Emerging rapper/producer Thee!General delivers his self-produced single, "12 Years," which sees him linking with WDSTCK Coasty for engaging collaboration. Over a soulful and nostalgic string sample, both emcees pour their candid thoughts on wax mixing personal tales with bravado demeanor.

UK singer/emcee Tiawa teams up with genre-bending producer/DJ WheelUP for the remix of her song, "Soldiers." The track is a playful dance record ripe with warm basslines and bright plucky guitars layered over a pulsating drum groove. Tiawa is more than comfortable on this beat and delivers a melodic rap performance with a carefree demeanor. "Soldiers remix" is taken from her debut album, Moonlit Train.

Sydney, Australian Hip Hop artist Ello. C makes his entry on our list this week with his new single, "Embers," which explores the concept of focusing one's mind on things that can be controlled as opposed to the opposite. The production here is made up of somber flutes, pads, and punchy boom-bap drums.
UK emcees Majick and Mic Righteous team up for "Not Blood," a hard-hitting track that explores the rapper's childhood and all the experiences that makes them tick. It's quite insightful, fiery, and thought-provoking.
Dylamic switches the mood with the feel-good single titled "lowkey (keep it easy)." The dance-infused track showcases the rapper's versatility and fun-loving side and joining him is vocalist Julia Cremers,, who adds a catchy melodic performance to complete the job.

Jason Channel is "Walking on a Sunshine" on his new release. The feel-good track is backed by a nostalgic jazzy backdrop and Salazar's uplifting and carefree flow.
Emerging singer Lisa G delivers this heartfelt soulful cut titled "Womans Work" which explores the ups and downs of being in a tumultuous relationship from a woman's viewpoint. Over a sublime nostalgic backdrop, Lisa G details her personal struggles dealing with a man who doesn't value her. "Vidal Baboon" is a hard-hitting trap/drill track from Boston rapper Speak the Rebel that delivers an energetic and probably unbridled performance. From the double-time flows, animated delivery, and vivid lyrics, Speak the Rebel brings unprecedented energy to the forefront.

Singer/songwriter Isaac Suh and Jon Alexander team up for the somber and heartfelt collaboration titled "MIGHT AS WELL." The track sees both artists pouring their candid thoughts about their toxic relationships with women in this current generation. The Isaac Suh-produced track is made up of melancholic piano chords, moody textures, and sparse drum arrangements that blend effortlessly with the singer's sublime melodic performances.
"Nightfall" is a cross-country collaboration between Boston's finest MCs and Budapest's 2 upcoming lyricists. The quartet made up of Mostly George, G Fam Black, Oblivious, and Salie Xander come together as the proverbial horsemen who proceed with unbridled energy and vigor over the ominous production laid before them.
UK/Italian rapper Shunaji caught our ears with "Black Girl Blues," a jazz-infused track that explores her life as a celebrated nerd and outlier. Over the vibrant backdrop, she delivers her lines in English and Italian while making references to films, artists, and video games, all of which are framed within a broadcast from her ‘Black Girl Blues’ channel. The result is a fun-filled, insightful track that everyone can rock with and relate to as well. Shunaji is an avant-garde producer, rapper, and singer hailing from Rome and currently based in London.

Straight out of the Netherlands comes the ALPHAS, an alternative R&B group who popped on our radar with "Love Language." The synth-driven, mid-tempo track details the effects of love and obsession on an individual and the pain that comes with it. The production exudes a late 90s early 00s aesthetics reminiscent of Timbaland/Dark Child and the vocal runs are quite off-kilter and passionate as well.
"Gotta Get Up" is the latest single from Seattle rap duo MP & Vokab who team up with rap veteran Rapper Big Pooh and SamIam The MC. Bolstered by the off-kilter production provided by Nottz, the rappers deliver an uplifting and motivational track that implores listeners to get up, go out and get something done. "Voicemails" is an all-Chicago affair as rapper D3WON teams up with singer Oliv Blu and rap duo ConSoul. The production has a lively funk-soul aesthetic ripe with pulsating bass guitars, punchy drums, and anthemic horns which is peppered by the rapper's passionate verses and Oliv Blu's 90s inspired R7b melodic style.

UK based singer/songwriter Myyora switches up the energy with the exotic and nostalgic track titled "Feel." the feel-good jam is an anthem of freedom and the need to expunge negative thoughts and energies from one's mind. Myyora's performance is quite gripping as she effortlessly glides over the upbeat backdrop made up of rousing percussions and atmospheric textures.
Amsterdam-based eclectic artist Nina June caught our ears with her new offering titled "Jeremiah Blue." The record sees her collating several vestiges from past romances, relationships, friendships that may have withered away
The track is a cinematic pop-infused affair with its lush moody strings, punchy drum grooves, and alluring melodic runs that engulfs the somber backdrop from top to bottom. "Jeremiah Blue" is taken from her full-length album, Meet Me on The Edge of Our Ruin (out November 26 via Nettwerk Records).

Jae Haze's new single "Goal-Driven" sees the Chicago, IL native detailing his life as a go-getter and highly focused individual trying to find his way to the apex. Armed with his distinct laidback flow and insightful lyrics, he brings listeners closer to the mix with vivid lyrics and passionate performance to match. "Amazing Grace" is an energetic single from emerging rapper Jordan Ace who introduces himself to new listeners. backed by the punchy cinematic backdrop, Ace stamps his feet on solid ground and reminds listeners of his amazing journey thus far and he is definitely not going anywhere. Prolific NY emcee Jamar Carr is in his element on his new single "Whole Lotta" which serves as his new single from his forthcoming project FatherTime. "Whole Lotta" is a bravado-laden track ripe with Carr's laidback and confident flow and he is joined by fellow emcee PTB Rell who brings his own style to the forefront. Danish singer/ producer Marie Dahlstrom is currently working on her new EP and in the interim, she shares a new single "Need You, Pt. 2" which sees her working with rapper Dayne Jordan and producer Dan Diggas. The alternative soul/hip-hop record captures Dahlstrom's ethereal melodic style and production prowess alongside Jordan's insightful performance. Dan Diggas is also on production duties and adds his own flair to the heartfelt record.

Marie’s new EP will be released October 29th, ahead of a headline show at London’s Camden Assembly on November 19th. Emerging Indian singer Perp closes out this week's list with her debut release titled "My Mind." The mellow ballad sees her collaborating with French producer NSHKO who gifts her sultry vocals with a summer-infused guitar-driven backdrop. The result is a dreamy love-soaked piece that makes for a great listen and feel-good vibes.
