Tom Ashbrook delivers versatile, cinematic EP ko:da

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Tom Ashbrook drops cinematic EP ko:da, a five-track body of work which showcases his ability to infuse fresh sonics rooted in his signature emotive style, merging with the distinct craft of his collaborators on the production.

Consisting of three re-inventions of his 2020 single “Klass,” the EP opens with the visual treat of a short film titled MISSUXO directed and produced by Hungarian cinematographer Marcell Lobenwein, with one version of “Klass,” bringing the tale of turbulent times in a relationship and a couple’s journey to Marseille to life.

The second version of “Klass,” a haunting melody woven by Berlin’s Robert Koch is preceded by an enchanting new piece of music,  “tu ː orbit,” led by the delicate yet powerful vocals of Grammy-nominee Greta Svabo Bech whose emotive delivery layers over swooning synths and pianos.

Koch’s variation of “Klass,” is followed by acoustic version of the track, which truly establishes Ashbrook’s talent for creating a tapestry of thematic yet unique sounds that shine with individuality but remain cohesive.

Final track is meditative, piano-led title track which pulls listeners away from the experimentation stretching across ko:da for a peaceful and comforting moment which roots us after the ethereal sonic journey we’ve been on.

A classically trained pianist who has been around the emotions and mystique of music since the age of five, Tom Ashbrook has developed an awe-inspiring style that blends his life-long passion for his craft with a penchant for contemporary soundscapes – his latest body of work being a great showcase of his trademark style.
