Dancing Astronaut’s New Music Friday (May 2, 2025): Cassian, HI-LO, Flume, and more

Cassian

Words by Alex Lambeau, Zach Salafia, and Ross Goldenberg.

Cassian – SOS

Cassian has been responsible one of the most sought-after IDs of the past month or so, with him now taking to John Summit’s Experts Only for his label debut, “SOS.” Despite an ambiguous vocal sample with some indiscernible lyrics, “SOS” is nothing short of Aahigh-octane club weapon that’s already become a centerpiece in Cassian’s latest sets. The release follows his unending hit streak over the past year alone that includes “Dun Dun” on Afterlife as well as “Where I’m From” with SCRIPT and Belladonna. And Cassian’s release goes hand in hand with his all-night long stop in Brooklyn on May 2 as part of his ongoing North American run.

Jessica Audiffred – Rave New World

Jessica Audiffred has risen the ranks to become one of the most sought-after names in bass music, and she has now continued that with the delivery of her debut album, Rave New World. Arriving just a month after her back-to-back set with one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2025, ALLEYCVT, at Ultra’s Worldwide stage, the 12-track album from the Mexico-born talent features collaborations with the likes of Nostalgix, urboi., and more.

Otherwish – Without You

Otherwish has continually preserved his placement as one of the most refreshing names on This Never Happened’s lengthy label roster. And the Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch alumni is further building that sentiment, returning with “Without You” as his third original of the calendar thus far. Those in attendance for his opening stints on Lane 8’s Childish tour over the past few months will likely recognize it on release day, with Otherwish turning what was originally a more toned-down demo into a ready-to-play live version that he knew deserved a proper release when the timing was right.

HI-LO & Temper – Work That Body

HI-LO has transformed Temper’s 2000s hit into a modern, energy-filled techno reimagining. “Work That Body” has finally hit the streaming platforms, with HI-LO infusing his signature driving basslines, razor-sharp percussion, and a bold vocal—which chants “ain’t nothin’ but tutti-frutti, get on the floor if you’ve got that booty”—that bridges raw underground energy with festival-scale impact. Sparked by a Boiler Room set from Malugi and inspired by the resurgence of high-energy genres like hard house and speed garage, “Work That Body” has been road-tested by the likes of Adam BeyerAmelie Lens, and Joseph Capriati. The rework has already proven its power through its punchy groove and will continue to invigorate the crowds on the global circuit.

Sultan + Shepard – Communicate

To round out Sultan + Shepard‘s seven-track EP on This Never Happened, the duo have returned with its sixth and seventh additions, including the title track — which was first unveiled during their back-to-back set with Lane 8 at Proper NYE in San Diego — and “Sigh.” Listeners have come to expect nothing but class from the melodic house duo, and this EP is certainly no exception. Arriving just a year after Endless, Dawn and fresh off of their Circle In Time tour —as well as its bonus tracks release — few artists match Sultan + Shepard’s ability to consistently deliver such high-quality music.

Flume & JPEGMAFIA – We Live In A Society

Flume is back. After recently wiping his Instagram, Flume converted the suspense into a new four-track EP alongside JPEGMAFIA, marking his first original releases since 2023. We Live In A Society delivers everything we’ve come to know and love about the Aussie icon. And this isn’t the duo’s first collaboration — they previously teamed up on “How To Build A Relationship” from Flume’s 2019 Hi This Is Flume mixtape.
