Denver-based bass music powerhouse Midnight Tyrannosaurus is set to unleash his groundbreaking concept EP, “Life of a Street Rat,” on July 17. This 14-track opus is more than just a collection of hard-hitting dubstep; it’s a fully realized universe brought to life through music, animation, and storytelling.
“Life of a Street Rat” serves as the first chapter in a larger narrative, promising fans a multi-dimensional experience. With over a decade in the scene, Midnight Tyrannosaurus has established himself as a pioneering figure in modern bass music. Known for his earth-shaking drops, eerie atmospheres, and primal energy, he’s now pushing the boundaries of the genre by integrating complete storylines and visual accompaniments into his work.
But the innovation doesn’t stop there. Mid-tour, fans can look forward to a 20-minute animated episode that will dive deeper into the “Life of a Street Rat” storyline. Complete with character sketches and professional voice actors, this visual component aims to bridge the gap between cartoons and dubstep in a way never seen before.
As Midnight Tyrannosaurus explains, “The whole idea behind these last few releases is trying to bridge the gap between cartoons and dubstep. To tell a cohesive, digestible story that takes the listener on an audio journey utilizing dubstep as an anchor. Like an audiobook on crack. Then, when combined with animated visuals, it becomes a mini-movie with a musical focus.”
To support this ambitious project, Midnight Tyrannosaurus will embark on a 30-date North American tour starting August 29. The tour promises to be a live cinematic and audio experience, further expanding on the EP’s universe. As “Life of a Street Rat” drops and the tour approaches, fans can prepare to be transported into a gritty yet enthralling realm where dubstep and storytelling collide in an unprecedented audio-visual experience.
