We can always count on DJ Susan’s Hood Politics imprint to showcase the best rising talent around. This week’s spotlight is two immensley talented artists, CRMBS & SCHEINY, teaming up for a whopping one-two punch of releases this week, first providing their flip of Outkast’s “The Way You Moov” and then a sizzling original “Sidechick.”
Transforming Outkast’s classic ‘I Like the Way You Move’, CRMBS and SCHEINY bring an infectious groove, foot-shuffling bassline, and breakbeat elements to create a melodic, vocal-driven smash. Similarly, ‘Sidechick’ boldly reimagines the Pointer Sisters’ ‘Betcha Got a Chick on the Side,’ infusing a percussion-forward bass house vibe with a relentless bassline, thumping beats, and modernized vocals, delivering a modern feel on a classic.
CRMBS shares that, “Spenser and I met in 2017 in the Bahamas while on “Holy Ship”. Since then, we’ve become the closest of friends, regularly sending music back and forth for input, inspiration, and just a “hey what do you think of this?” As DJ’s, we’ve both started focusing on music production over the past year or two, so the fit was natural for us to collaborate on some music together. Our tastes both lean heavily towards driving club tracks, so when we sat down to make something together the first qualification was that the tracks were “club friendly”, and ready to do some damage on the dance floor. What we ended up with was not one but two tracks, both with their own sense of identity, but both ready to get some bodies moving.”
In addition to each of these releases, SCHEINY & CRMBS will deliver a thrilling b2b, offering direct support for tech house queen Wenzday at Sound Bar in Chicago on December 9th. Tickets are available here.
