Telegrapher Speakers Announce Carbon Fox Monitors

The Carbon Fox enclosure is built entirely from carbon fiber using constrained-layer damping, resulting in a 30% reduction in weight while dramatically increasing rigidity. This construction minimizes panel vibration and stored energy, allowing the drivers to operate without cabinet-induced coloration. Considering the heft, of their current lineup, and something we noted in our Telegrapher Gorilla S Studio Monitors Review, we asked Emre Telci, Telegrapher’s CEO, how the new Carbon Fox tackled dampening.

“Carbon fiber is very stiff, but on its own it can ring and create resonances. To control this, we use a sandwich structure called constrained-layer damping (CLD). There are two carbon-fiber layers with an elastic material in between,” Telci reveals. “When the enclosure vibrates, this middle layer absorbs and dissipates the vibration, turning it into heat. This greatly reduces resonance and unwanted ringing, while keeping the strength of carbon fiber.”
