Canadian electro-pop artist Cmagic5 has just unveiled her debut album Ready to Run. The nine-track release touches on the everyday emotions of going through early adulthood, giving an honest look into the life of a rising teen star. Through storytelling lyrics and her bright, animated sounds, the artist paints a colorful picture, transporting us to a magical world that brings to mind Dr. Seuss meets Euphoria. Innocent, raw, and carefree, Cmagic5 doesn’t hold back in the new album, giving her all and opening about relatable themes from self-love, self-worth and motivation.
“Love Me If You Can” is a new addition from the album. Speaking of owning who you are, the young singer/songwriter wants to empower others to be unapologetically themselves, she confides, “My music promotes the idea of feeling good about yourself and spreading love.” The passionate track bursts with a rainbow of sounds and textures, immediately pulling you in from the very first note. Her distinguishable voice takes center stage, parading like a peacock and giving us a taste of what this artist is capable of.
“Lego” is another standout on the album. Tropical, tribal-sounding drums bring the track to life. The move-inducing rhythm will have you shimmying away, producing something which is far beyond the musician’s years. A delicious concoction of instruments and genres, Cmagic5 uses both her heritage and love of reggaeton, R&B and pop to create a fresh and unique sound.
