With a new location for 2022 alongside three wondrous new stages, Love Saves The Day in Bristol, UK is back with a bang as they turn up the heat for the Queen’s bank holiday on 2nd and 3rd June.
Taking place in the luscious green grounds of Ashton Court, the estate marks the perfect new location to welcome the best local and international talent of the moment. Following last year’s success with the return of festivals after the pandemic attracting party goers far and wide, Love Saves The Day has now delivered their biggest line up to date and we share the finest bubbling talent not to be missed amongst the heavyweights ahead of the event this year.
First up arriving on Thursday is Anz on the Centre Stage. With a unique stage build that must be witnessed in all its glory, paired with Anz’ incredible DJ skills and impeccable selections, prepare to be amazed. Anz’ busy festival season comes after her critically acclaimed All Hours EP last year that spanned multiple realms of house, garage, breaks and more with her carefully crafted production. Taking listeners on the notorious journey of a night out from the mellow beginnings to the lights coming on in a club at the end, it was “You Could Be” that catapulted Anz in front of a wider audience with subtle pop crossovers demonstrating her unique versatility.
Next up, Love Saves The Day regular Artwork will be heading up the Lost Gardens stage. He was sorely missed at last year’s event having recently moved to the US, but the festival welcomes him back with open arms once again this year. Arguably one of the best DJs and comedians in electronic music who provides a breath of fresh air on the scene, Artwork’s care-free and versatile attitude to music has seen him earn more than over two decade’s worth of accolades. Having mastered multiple genres over the years as a 90s techno producer, being a member of dubstep outfit Magnetic Man alongside Benga and Skream, whilst also co- producing Daniel Bedingfield‘s “I Gotta Get Thru This” and more recently curating his own Art’s House events, expect a variety of uplifting disco, house, garage, techno, or whatever spontaneous magic Art might be feeling. Either way, it’s sure to go down a treat.
Part of the new stage line up in Hidden Corners, Dar Disku (which translates to Home Of Disco) make their Love Saves The Day debut. A duo that are turning heads right now, the guys are based between the UK and Bahrain and champion the sounds of the Middle East, Asia and beyond within their sets. In particular, Dar Disku have become fully immersed in the Bristol nightlife scene and now they get to show case their talent to arguably one of their biggest crowds yet. Their sets make for a euphoric journey, encompassing their cultural roots and it’s traditional musical influences whilst weaving straight up, grooving bangers from the likes of Madonna, Armand Van Helden, wacky Rihanna edits and more.
Now on to Friday, where the stellar line up continues to shine, Nia Archives is set to dominate the Lost Gardens stage. The past year has seen the producer, DJ and vocalist skyrocket, bringing a jungle resurgence to the masses and carrying the torch of the genre’s heavyweights that have allowed her to rise in this new era and generation of junglists. Her Forbidden Feelingz EP reached critical acclaim earlier this year whilst her new single “Mash Up The Dance” alongside Watch The Ride is going to be a huge crowd pleaser that is sure to create a special moment on a glorious summer afternoon.
Heading up another new stage named Transmission, and hosted by Bristol radio station SWU FM, Jossy Mitsu and Dr Dubplate dust off the decks for a special b2b set. Dr Dubplate’s ability to mix and master multiple genres holds no bounds, bouncing between the likes of speed garage, bass, UKG, breaks and more whilst managing his own label of similar sounds ec2a. Meanwhile, Jossy Mitsu is also set to weave in her diverse palette of cuts that spans house, techno, rave, jungle and more, making her one of electronic music’s finest selectors and the perfect combo with Dr Dubplate for a b2b.
Last but not least is Rinse FM residents and DJ collective Horse Meat Disco who head up the Shambarbers stage. One, if not the biggest disco collective in the UK, they arrive on Friday for an evening filled of feel-good disco gems. The crates of unheard anthems and rare cuts that the guys have collected over the years always means there’s something wonderful and new to be discovered in a Horse Meat Disco set. Make sure to hop on this train, it’s guaranteed to get you moving.
