Bestfriend is the indie-pop duo of Stacy Kim and Kaelan Geoffrey. Back in 2019, they formed online through Instagram DMs and mutual friends. From there, they’ve spent the last couple of years making music from different sides of the country. Despite being miles apart, the duo proves to be very intimate and cheery in their music, indie dreampop. Today, the duo has come together to release their newest track about unrequited love, “Hannah in the City.”
This evocative single comes off Bestfriend’s upcoming EP places i've lived. "Hannah in the City." Geoffrey's dreamy synths pair perfectly with Kim's pulling and even dreamier vocals. The chorus guitar feels distant, and will have fans wanting to step in and chase the hum-worthy melody.
On the track’s bittersweet story, Stacy shares: "It's a happy-sad-angry reminiscing song all about potential / possibilities / the idea that a relationship might not have fallen apart if we'd just done this or that – all while knowing in the back of your head that it was obviously doomed to fail in the first place." A little pessimistic, but we can respect their honesty!
Their newest EP, places i’ve lived, will come out October 1.
