The transition from acclaimed songwriter to full-fat artist project can be a tricky one for a lot of musicians, but London-based talent George Gianluca seems to have taken to the role like he was born to do so. He’s just dropped his gorgeous new single “Ella” and immediately showcases why he’s a songwriter of choice for the likes of Ciaran Ducrot, Liv Dawson and Fabich.
The track builds from a softly delivered piano and vocal combination, showcasing George’s raw songwriting talent. The chorus is a heartfelt ode to a dwindling relationship as George states that “The song is very self explanatory. My relationship was falling apart while I was in New York with her.” The track is the first release from a forthcoming collection, as George takes on the journey from behind-the-scenes songwriting muse, to up-front performer.
Speaking on his approach for “Ella” George states:
“I had the chorus of “Ella” living as a voice note on my phone for 2 years and I had kind of forgotten about it. I tried to tell this story countless times in different songs but when I recently rediscovered the voice note the rest of the song just spilled out of me. It’s bold and very to the point but I like that, I like being honest”
