Idris Elba is a man who wears many hats (literally and figuratively) and his string of successes in both film and music is something to be studied. His newest release “Biggest” is a musical comeback for the actor/DJ/producer who dives into the club with this hip-hop/Moombahton-inspired tune that aims to keep the dancefloor moving perpetually. Bolstered by thick distorted basslines, punchy sparsely arranged drums and moody textures, Elba engulfs the track with his distinct baritone vocals and kicks bravado-driven verses with much gusto.
The record also comes with a vibrant visual that shows Elba’s charismatic and fun-loving personality. The visual is simple, energetic and stylish as well and overall it’s a prime example of less is more.
Most would have caught it but for those not privy, “Biggest” was used on Apple’s launch film announcing the new iPhone 14 watch here.
“Biggest” is Elba’s follow-up single to his previous releases, the tech-house flavoured “Body Shots” and the energetic Afro-pop jam “Ashobi” which saw him collaborate with Sierra Leone’s biggest contemporary artist Drizilik.
