Parisian-Welsh arist Kitty shares her latest anthem “Pussy”—a stick-it-to-the-man track written after an incident with a male music industry label head, the single is a glitchy pop cut dripping in sultry attitude and feminine power.
Aligning her sounds with the likes of COBRAH, Kim Petras and Tommy Genesis, Kitty is placing herself amongst the fetish-pop greats with her stellar pop production and incredible songwriting. Written about “taking back that power, owning my sexuality and identity”, “Pussy” claps back at those who fucked with her. “I wrote this song right after an interaction with a well-respected music label CEO I really looked up to,” explains Kitty. “We had previously had a strictly professional relationship and had been in contact briefly in 2020. Almost a year exactly after that he slid back into my DMs, for which I assumed was a music-related opportunity. Turns out he was explicitly just after pussy.”
A bonafide electro-pop banger, “Pussy” showcases Kitty’s clean-cut, crystallized production that we first saw on “Heart on Crack” back in 2020. Continuing her influence of hyperpop titans, the single glazes icy hyperpop sounds with heart-thumping electronics and synthetic pulses to produce a single brimming with power and sexuality.
“It’s upsetting that it’s not the first time that this has been my experience” Kitty says. This comment may connect with an abundance of women paving their way in the music industry, deflecting male attention that doesn’t take them seriously. “Pussy” is an anthem declaring war on this behaviour.
