Boston emcee M-Dot just came off his 12th European Tour and is already in the studio working on more music. His latest effort titled “Done” sees him collaborating with Detroit’s legendary producer Apollo Brown, who laces him with some of his finest soulful pieces, and the result is another gem for fans to revel in. Underpinned by a moody organ and vocal chops and thick drums, M-Dot shares his unfiltered opinions about the industry and its shady tactics. From milking authentic artists to the bone, over-promoting gimmicky acts to the masses, and dumbing down the culture, M-Dot tackles all the different aspects and reminds us that all the wackness will soon be done. Nothing is spared as he delivers his verses with such intensity and grit forcing listeners to think deeply about the situation while enjoying his unique wit and humor. Also joining the duo is DJ Access who provides some necessary scratches on the track using some choice vocal samples from the late great Biggie Smalls and Pharoahe Monch.
“Done” is the follow-up single to M-dot’s Pete Rock-produced single “The Atonement”. Both tracks are lifted from M-Dot’s forthcoming egO anD The eneMy 2. The release date is still tentative so we just have to wait and see.
