Multi-talented genre-bending artist Nate Rose follows up his Nefarious LP with a new project entitled Pie At The Party. The 11-track body of work sees him taking the reins once again with a mix of braggadocio and introspective bars and a lot of hard-hitting soundscapes showing listeners his growth as an artist willing to push the envelope with each release. The title refers to him giving his all in regard to his musical endeavors.
Nate wastes no time in setting the tone with the dramatic opener titled “The Hatchet.” The title is a no-brainer as he lunges forward with an unapologetic mindset over the moody cinematic backdrop laid before him. He lays down the law and reminds naysayers and the opposition that he is not one to play with. The energy level changes with “Hollywood,” a bouncy party tune where he exudes a slightly nonchalant style but he doesn’t let up on the detractors who try to watch his moves. He even throws in a smooth catchy hook for good measure.
“Goofy” is just as the title dictates and Nate details a party experience with a baddie who is down for the count, this is followed by the haunting textures of “State Of The Union” where Nate breaks down the current state of affairs in his life and the music industry in general. Nate holds down the fort for most of the tracks except “Flip,” and “Anyday,” featuring Jon Keith and Reo Cragun respectively. The former is a pure showcase of rap skills from Nate and Keith while Reo adds a smooth melodic touch to the latter. Other cuts like “Tortoise & The Hare” and “Vince” also give listeners a different side from reflective to boastful bars in one breath. The final cut “Bet She Do,” has an ethereal and atmospheric texture that blends with Nate’s edgy melodic flows.
Overall, the project is a celebration of Nate’s evolution from an indie artist who did absolutely everything on his own to an artist who gives others a “piece of the pie” in exchange for their expert touches on his songs.
Currently, he has 2 EPs under his belt; debut Polymath EP and CrossFire EP which features Bay Area newcomer Rexx Life Raj.
