IOTA PHI takes on a dystopian journey on ‘Homo Pauperis’

Greek Art-pop artist IOTA PHI draws us into her immersive sonic world on debut album Homo Pauperis. Led by hypnotic instrumentation hinged on her penchant for experimentation, the collection draws from concepts of evolution and mutation moving seamlessly through 10 tracks carried by her haunting yet ethereal vocals.

Opening with the gentle electronic swirls of “Mutation,” before moving to the dark dance beats and thick bass sounds of “Luna Moth,” and the slow-built anthemic quality of “Xipna,” every track on the album is entrancing and emotive.

The multi-faceted talent balances orchestral numbers like “Wide Awake,” with the lulling quality of “Daydream,” showcasing her knack for crafting intricate slices of music that transports us through a dystopian journey exploring changes in the human race.

While some tracks like the hazy “Oropos,” and the foreboding touches of “In Control,” highlight her instrumental prowess, other offerings like the title track and “Wolves Mate For Life,”  unveil her vocal range going from the bold and soaring style of the former to the stripped back melodic nature of the latter, before the soft swaying production and spoken-word layers of final track “ I Will Be,” drives home her overall versatility.

Having built a reputation for creating a bold palette of sentiments and rhythms in an otherworldly yet down-to-earth artistry, IOTA continues to fascinate us with her unique sound which combines elements of experimental-electronic, EDM, alt-pop and R&B.
